Weekly stand-ups instead of endless sittings
We have all experienced it: never-ending meetings, participants focusing on their emails, people arriving late or leaving earlier and seemingly open-ended discussions. This does not need to happen! We suggest: “weekly stand-ups”, a copy of the daily stand up some of you might know from agile project management.
Every Monday morning the team meets around a flipchart and takes turns in discussion:
1. This is what I did last week.
2. These are the things I am planning to do this week.
3. There is a need for support, coordination, etc. Topic number 3 is kept up on the flipchart; the relevant team members arrange meetings for cooperation. The stand-up is terminated after approx. 15 minutes; everyone in the team is well informed and goes back to his / her work.
