Digital is all about people
by Roland Rust
Organisations will never have the “mindset”
to drive Digital Transformation.
Only people have.
People with a “digital mindset” can be found everywhere.
Could be the company’s CEO. Would be great if so.
Could be the millennial internship.
Most likely it’s them.
The challenge with “mindset”: It’s called the cognitive bias.
Those who have it know what that “mindset” is.
Those who don’t won’t recognise it.
Even if it sits in front of them.
That’s why “digital minds” have a hard time driving DT.
Building alliances among these people is crucial.
Creating a space for them to gather is key.
Let’s give them the freedom to create.
Large organisations want to pour billions into their DT.
Just to get something going NOW. Just anything.
But they should save the money for later.
It’s not about how big you start.
All it takes to get things going is coffee and a little freedom.
Free people from rigid structures and hierarchies.
Free them from compulsory attendance.
From standardised processes.
And vendor strategies.
Digital is all about people.
The right people in the right place.
Creative, idealistic and visionary minds.
Who want to make a change no matter what.
Because people who are crazy enough to think
they can change the world, are the ones who do.
